Reflecting Ingenuity, Promoting Flexibility

Process Technology was committed to their community when it was time to update their historic Willoughby headquarters. Our design honors their commitment to the community by repurposing the site of a former used car dealership into a vibrant, open, and bright contemporary office. The existing building was the place for auto sales and the site consisted of outdated and utilitarian structures. Our design connects structures that were constructed over the years, creating a cohesion that reflects the progressive technological identity of this forward-thinking company.

The new design seamlessly melded together two buildings into one by cladding their exteriors in metal composite material and perforated aluminum panels, creating uniformity and visual appeal for the combined 23,500 SF headquarters. To create prominence, we sliced into the building’s front façade and installed sliding openings throughout the exterior. These design choices create a visual rhythm and a distinct sense of space, place, and personality absent in the original property. Inside, light and open space are exemplified by the addition of a cleanroom, visible directly behind a minimalist concierge area. It provides visitors and employees with a clear view of the company’s testing, research, and development processes. Strategically added moveable metal mesh partitions are added to the open space to help organize the office spaces while promoting casual collisions and collaboration. The mix of individual workspaces and social hubs, including meeting zones, a café, and a fitness suite, preserve employee privacy while fostering a sense of community.

The result is an open and modern headquarters that promotes and invites the sharing of knowledge among staff, promoting innovation, flexibility, and wellness in the workplace.
