When AmLaw 200 firm Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP’s Chicago office could no longer accommodate their growing team of attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants, they sought Vocon’s expertise to facilitate the relocation of their practice to two floors within the skyscraper 71 South Wacker Drive. Vocon’s team incorporated areas for attorneys and their staff to relax, recharge and find respite – from wellness spaces to prayer rooms – situated along the office circulation path.
Through the use of planning metrics paired with the tremendous depth of knowledge amassed by our design team, the space now features workspaces to support 90 attorneys, a spacious lobby and reception area, a conference center and varied support spaces including several collaboration areas at the end of the football shape floor plate.
An open, walk-through café has access to exterior windows and is placed immediately opposite the reception area. The café serves as an oasis along the circulation path and features booth seating and a community table, anchored by a two-story green wall.
The reception area features walnut veneer panels, Carrera porcelain insets and a leather panel wall reinforced with a continuous luminous ceiling. The detailing of these various elements is exceptional and was carefully detailed by the design team. The result was an office fit for a Midwest powerhouse – energizing bodies, minds and business while providing ample space for growth.
Vocon’s ongoing partnership with Benesch has resulted in numerous renovation and planning projects within their Cleveland, OH and Wilmington, DE locations.
