When asked by Time, Inc. to renovate their existing executive reception area, Vocon asked themselves, why mess with an icon? And then began to evaluate how the existing lobby could be brought to the 21st century without destroying the integrity of the original design. A simple solution to relocate the reception desk to face the entry doors, remove the “wall of books” in an existing semicircular bookcase to bring in the natural light and combine the books with current technology was a slam dunk.
The reuse and enhancement of the original reception desk, utilizing the old “bookcase” as an architectural screen and creating an intimate setting for guests showcasing the past and present of Time, Inc. was both effective and creative.
In addition, Vocon also completed various other projects in support of Time, Inc.’s ongoing renovation initiatives. Such projects have included the design of a Tech Bar and the design of a 3,000 SF studio space for Time’s new online broadcast department.
