Oatey Corporate Headquarters.

Cleveland, Ohio

PROJECT OVERVIEW.

Rooted in Cleveland for 100 years, the Oatey Company is a global manufacturing company of quality plumbing products.  The new $12 million corporate headquarters is a state-of-the-art, sustainable and energy-efficient collaboration space for Oatey’s growing staff.  Expressing a forward-looking identity rooted in the landscape, the 43,500 SF structure consolidates Oatey’s staff, fostering stronger partnerships across their team.

Set in the Emerald Corporate Park on a stunning 7.6-acre site bordering the Cleveland Metroparks, the structure was sensitively sited to enhance the building’s energy performance and to capitalize on park views.  Features include a 2,800 SF exterior porch perched at the building’s angular prow overlooking the picturesque Rocky River Valley.  The mass of the building is constructed from dark bronze and stone.  Native plant species are used throughout the landscape to be water-wise and respectful to the park.  The south entry landscape is more restrained while the northern site dramatically steps down to the park with stone retaining walls lined with regional grass varieties which gently feather building to site.

While optimizing views and daylight for all employees, similar planning principles were ingrained into the interior office space.  The building includes a variety of open and closed conferencing, which supports the company’s diverse and collaborative culture.  Amenities include multiple indoor cafes, outdoor picnic areas, a fitness suite along with an outdoor walking trail.  Finishes for the interior environment compliment the park setting and remain honest and grounded.  The design approach and environmental messaging throughout the new headquarters facility help tells the story of Oatey’s history while enabling an environment that fosters innovation.

The project was designed for maximum energy efficiency meeting ASHRAE Standard 189.1 Standard for the Design of High Performance Green Buildings and the project is pursuing a LEED NC Silver Certification.
