Providing bereavement services throughout Northern Ohio, Hospice of the Western Reserve wanted to establish a new end-of-life residential facility for individuals on the west side of Cleveland. The care facility needed to be a home-like environment for patients whose families can no longer care for them at home during their last stages of life. As the firm of record, Vocon understood the need to create a warm and comforting facility with a focus on ergonomics to assist the hospice staff. Set in a 30 acre wooded site, maintained the settings natural sense of peace by creating a care center resembling a home both inside and out. The interior's main focal point is a parlor entry that transitions to a study and then a grand atrium. The unique care center wings are circular in layout. This ergonomic feature minimizes the amount of walking for volunteers and staff from one area to the next.
