SIX VOCON DESIGNERS AND ARCHITECTS RECEIVE ENVIRONMENTAL INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL HONOR

Firm Boasts Nearly 20 Professionals with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Designation

Vocon, a leading architectural and interior design firm, announces the certification of Megan Fleming, Matt Kuehnle, Heather Schmucker, Megan Swansinger, Stephanie Swarner and Jessica Urbin as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professionals (LEED AP) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

 

This certification further portrays Vocon’s commitment to providing sustainable design options and specifications to clients, with a staff of nearly 20 LEED accredited professionals. “Vocon seeks to bring sustainable design elements to every project,” said Matt Heisey, principal, LEED AP, Vocon.

 

The designation of LEED AP, a highly recognized accomplishment, demonstrates a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles, as well as the LEED rating system. As LEED AP professionals, these individuals will enhance Vocon’s ability to provide environmentally friendly specifications, along with the knowledge and skills to service clients’ needs for sustainable projects and the ability to facilitate the LEED certification process for all client projects.

 

Megan Fleming joined Vocon in 2008 as a project designer, responsible for space planning, programming and finish selection of interiors. Prior to joining Vocon, Fleming served as a business reporter for Crain’s Communication and as a corporate communications specialist for the FirstEnergy Corp. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from the University of Dayton and a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Kent State University. Fleming is a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and a resident of Macedonia, Ohio.

 

Matt Kuehnle joined Vocon in 2002 as a project designer. Prior to joining the firm, Kuehnle worked at Shepley Bulfinch, an architecture, planning and interior design firm in Boston. He received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati and currently resides in Cleveland.


Heather Schmucker joined Vocon as an architect in 2008 with nearly 10 years of industry experience. She is responsible for the design and layout of spaces, as well as

overseeing building and construction and working with engineers, surveyors and construction professionals.

 

She is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is an associate member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Schmucker holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kent State University and currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

 

Megan Swansinger came to Vocon in 2005 as an interior designer with prior design experience at Milan Bender and Associates, Architects located in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. In addition to her status as LEED AP, Swansinger is certified with the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). She received a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Kent State University’s college of architecture and environmental design in 2004 and is a resident of Cleveland.

 

Stephanie Swarner joined Vocon in 2005 as a project manager, responsible for space planning, as well as directing the development and execution of both interiors and architectural projects. In addition to becoming a LEED accredited professional, Swarner is currently completing the NCIDQ certification test and beginning to study for her Architecture Registration Exams. She received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kent State University and is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Swarner currently resides in Maple Heights, Ohio.
