VOCON DESIGNS TRI-C METRO CAMPUS CENTER FOR CREATIVE ARTS
Graphics Were Inspired by Staff and School’s Curriculum

CLEVELAND (March 2010) – Vocon, a leading architectural and interior design firm, recently completed graphics and interior design work for the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Center for Creative Arts.

To reflect the Center for Creative Arts’ creative inspiration from the dance majors to theater and television production students, Vocon designed floor-to-ceiling graphics along the tunnel entry-way in modern colors, including red, charcoal and chartreuse.

“Working with the professors and staff was a great experience,” said Robynn Schindler, Vocon project designer. “They communicated the school’s identity, setting the tone for design, and bringing creative aspects of the curriculum into the look and feel of the space. In addition, Tri-C helped to integrate the design of the existing Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Archive Library with its space.”

The firm tied the unique-entry way in with the rest of the building by incorporating graphics of a similar color palette throughout Tri-C’s section of the building. Vocon also chose furnishings including mod lounge chairs and classroom seating with similar colors to complement the distinctive graphics.

A red vinyl serpentine lounge piece with graphics was included in the entry way. The café features a built in bench with multicolored pinstripes, similar to those chosen for the building’s common spaces. Vocon selected dark charcoal grey carpeting made from recycled materials. Even the theater’s ticket booth matches the building’s overall style. The educational environment encourages the imaginative and creative process with the space’s modern, inviting and artistic design.

Project designers Schindler, Patty Harb and Lauren Dennison integrated the school’s contemporary feel with the existing edgy experience the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Archive Library gives.

As a result of the work Vocon did, the college also enlisted their help in creating graphics for both literature and banners for the upcoming JazzFest this April.

Established in 1987, Vocon is a Cleveland-based architecture and interior design firm focused on creating distinctive, productive work environments for private- and public-sector clients throughout the country. Some of its notable clients include The Weather Channel, FirstEnergy Corp. and KeyBank—to name a few. For more information about Vocon, visit
